   1.
   In that cold grave in Ardagh, the tenement lies,
   Of a noble soul recently gone to his rest.
   Departed from earth, from its sorrows and joys
   To dwell evermore in the Home of the Blest.
   2. Our loved one, our lost one, we long shall deplor [?]
   For him shall the tears of true memory be shed

   Lines composed by Ned Liston, Gurtadroma, an uneducated labouring man, who later emigrated

   
   "So now for the future, be true to your colours,
   Let no man surrender, the time is at hand,
   When freedom shall shine, on the hills of old Erin
   To crown us with glory, in our own native land."
