  1. I live in the village of Shanagolden which is in the townland of Ballycormick and in the Barony of Shanid.
    Shanagolden is a small town situated in the west of Co. Limerick. There are about one hundred families living in it. It consists of one long running in an east-to-west direction with houses on both sides. Most of the houses are private ones and there are abut a score of shops of different kinds - mostly grocery shops and public houses. The public buildings in Shanagolden are a library, Guards' Station, schools, two churches - a Protestant church and a Catholic one. There is a big creamery at one end of the village. This was built about thirty years ago and is a very successful one. At the time of the Anglo-Irish war it was burned down by the Black-and-Tans - as also were a few private houses in the village.
