  1. Once upon a time there lived a great hero named John O Connor in Rathkeale. He was admired by every one for his skill in running and jumping. He challenged a man named Michael O Donnell for a four mile run from Rathkeale to Shanagolden and he beat him and got a prize for it.
He also challenged another man who was driving a jaunting car to Shanagolden. The car was travelling at top speed but he beat it running and got a great prize.
He lived about fifty or sixty years ago and any man in the county Limerick could not beat him.
