About 42 years ago there were 13 men coming home from work in a six oared galley. As they were crossing the channel between Haulbowline and Ringaskiddy a launch called the Cambridge hit them and all were thrown into the water, seven men were drowned and six saved. The boat was cut in halves and sank immediately. Only two men could swim and they succeeded in bringing the others to safety.
Only one man is living now and that is myself.
