Crowley was arrested and deported to a foreign prison.
One day the Governor of the prison came to Father Crowley and told him that he would help him if he liked to build a church, so that the Catholic convicts could go there any time they liked.
Father Crowley was astounded at this offer and next day he asked the warden to bring the Governor to him. When the Governor came he asked him why he made such an offer. The Governor said that he was once Father's Crowley's father's servant and that when the famine came he exiled into this certain country and he soon became Governor of this prison. The priest was home before twelve months.
