  1. There was a family of Carey's in the district and they lived in Careysville. They were noted priesthunters and they (were noted) kept a fool for their own amusement. One day the fool heard them making up a plan to kill a priest who was hiding in Ballyderown castle. They had to go around by Fermoy and when the fool saw them on the road he went down to the river and asked it in Irish not to drown Peter Carey's fool and he walked safely across and he told the priest and he escaped. The priest went to Baylors and they hid him and when the Carey's came they said he was gone on and the priest escaped.
    There was a chapel in Brooklodge and the Carey's went to kill the priest who used say mass there. A Carey came from Araglin and Strawhall and
