   had to be abandoned by the roadside and the owners had to get shelter in the neighbouring houses. Later the roads were flooded and left in a bad condition. Numbers of animals were lost in the snow and the owners were looking for them and they nearly got lost also.
   We had a great drought period in the year 1920.
   It started in mid-summer and lasted for twelve months. Several spring wells ran dry. People had to draw water long distances.
   Cattle and geese used to watch eagerly and follow the water-cart.
   They used all flock around the tub until the water was emptied out of the barrels and then they would drink enough.
