    designed and erected by himself in Castletownroche. The old church was on the Old Chapel Road and the piers of the gateway leading in are still to be seen in Mr E. OBrien's land, The Close, Castletownroche. The old church was a few hundred yards from the village.
    Rev. James Fitzpatrick was locally known as "Daddy Fitz".
    There was some dispute, between the P.P of this old chapel and an owner of a pew with regard to the position of the pew in the church. I think the priest wished the pew removed farther back from the Communion railing. The priest referred to the matter in the course of his sermon, the owners were not too well pleased, but Domhnall
