The heaviest snowfall for years, came on the 22nd February 1892. It nearly covered the houses. On the 17th March 1867, there was such a heavy snowfall that there was only one cow at the March fair in Kanturk.
About seventy-six years ago, on the 20th May, sheep were stifled at Dromagh fair by the heavy snow.
In 1921, there was a great drought period from April to the end of the year. There was a great shortage of water also in 1924, when there was not a drop of rain. Pumps, wells and rivers were nearly dry up to the following January.
