    He had a lucky escape, but his wife Mrs. Cronin, and his assistant, Miss Nora MacCarthy were burned to death.
    In the year 1918 an epidemic of influenza visited Ireland. It lasted six weeks. There was an average of seven deaths a week in Kanturk. There was a man of the name of Frank MacMahon killed in the Kanturk Creamery in the year 1915. He was caught in a belt, and crushed to death.
