  1. John Twiss
Story in Rhyme of a Local Event
Now Irish men the world o'er
    I hope you will attend
    Till I relate the story
    And the truly tragic end
    Of patriotic John Twiss
    The bravest of the brave
Whose body sleeps within the prison wall
    In an unhonoured grave
The story is a sad one
    The heroic man struck down
By the blood money and perjury
    Of a harsh relentless Crown
    On the 27th of April
    They arrested this brave man
    And brought him to Newmarket
    Where the trial straight began
    They lost no opportunity
To try to make him change his coat
    But he always answered proudly
Sure I'd rather cut my throat
    They singled out their victim
And said the man must die
