There are stories told that people got teeth extracted in the forges long ago before dentists were heard of...

    (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)
sledge and the patient gave his head such a jerk that he did feel the tooth coming out.
This is a story about a forge given to me by my Grandfather. Long ago a man had a forge in Cullen. One morning when he was working in the forge a bare-footed woman came to him for a seed of fire the smith gave it to the woman she put it in her apron and as she was leaving the forge he made some remark about her nice foot and she got proud and with that her apron took fire.
She cursed the forge and the sound of an anvil was never heard in Cullen after that.
It is not known if anything to the man after or not but the woman was a Saint. She is locally known as Saint Lateran and her well day or pattern day is kept in Cullen on the sunday nearest to the 25th July.
