  1. A Song

Poets may sing in fluent words of valley, hill and lake

Poets may sing in fluent words of valley, hill and lake
Though I no bardic gift possess the best attempt I'll make
To describe some miles of a glossy stream than scours a lovely vale
Yet never met much fairer yet 'tis called the bright O'Kale.
    2
Its source is in a wilderness of mountain it is true
But after one half is passed how pleasant is the view
Through deep defiles it takes its course with a low incessant wail
As if it sprung from some fairy tongue that haunts the bright O'Kale.
    3
But its course is not alone confined to these raveens so wild
For through some lovely verdant plains a deep bed it has filed
With truly earnest heart I say though
