    When the people help one another at the garden they call this the cóir. In the summer the people do the first and second earthing. At this time also the potatoes are wed and sprayed. They are sprayed two or three times eight pounds of Blue Stone and ten pounds of wasking soda are used to forty gallons of water. That is supposed to be sufficient to spray an acre of ground. The digging of the potatoes takes place when the stalks start to wither in Sept and October.
    There is a potatoe digger used for digging potatoes sown in drills. The ridges are dug with a spade. When the potatoes are dug they are sorted the big ones are put into a pit by the pickers. The small ones are put into another pit and they are given to the pigs and cows they are called eriocans
