- A Song Composed Lcally after a Visit to Mt MellerayWe have Connie Joe and Jenny O, Mary Fitz and Jeremiah.
We had Radley Jack and Dan the Clerk.
If you saw Din Lucy dressed so sprucy arm in arm with the J P's sons.
And there was nothing sweeter than seeing Jack Peter and his pockets stuffed with ha'penny buns.
In Cappoquin when we entered in, then we missed that fellow called Jerry O.
We paid a crier a very small hire, to find him whether high or low.
And in the best of glee we started off for Melleray.
We were all so anxious to see Brother Francis who received us with open arms.
With beef and mutton he served each glutton.
And then he showed us around the farm.
Clerck and the lasses got punch in glasses beef and mutton to their hearts's content.
While the ladies in silk got bread in milk in the lobbies some storey high.
Said monk to me "What brought ye here? Ye'r the quarest tourists I ever saw.
It was no wonder we had such thunder "What brought ye apass the Mallow Spa.
We want no vulture but men of culture I am tired of cutting far ye all day.
I am nearly crazy I am getting lazy. For Gods sake in future stay away".(continues on next page)- Collector
