  1. The O'Keeffes were Eoghnacts.
    Their original place was near Fermoy but were displaced soon after the Norman invasion cir. 1200 A.D. They came west and somehow got possession of land around Dromagh (Dromtariffe) and Cullen.
    They held out somehow up to 1690 A.D. The three castles which are described in the back pages viz. Duarigle, Dromiscane and Dromagh were erected by them. A remarkable man of the O'Keeffe stock was Domhnall na Cásca who kept worrying the planters after 1690 but at last was betrayed by Maighréad Ní Cheallaig.
