- A storyLong ago in Rathbarry the old Lord Carbery was a black protestant and he di not want the chapel to be built on his own land. At a meeting of Daniel O Connell the year of the Emancipation the latter demanded it of him and then he would not alow a bell in it in case it would interfear with his own bell. One time there was a funeral going into the graveyard and he locked the gate and would not leave the priests in. The priest broke the lock and it was never locked after that not even to this day.Johanna SullivanFrom Michael Sullivan
