- The people in my district help one another and it is commonly called caring. All the potatoes are sown in drills. The townland of Ballymichael is very famous for potatoes. The iron plough is used for making drills.
Up to twenty years ago potatoes were set in ridges. A hole was made in the ground with the spade, a sciolan taken from the pouch and dropped in. The potatoes were much drier and more floury when grown in ridges. The setting of potatoes in ridges(continues on next page) - Informant
