    It is surprising to hear people of over sixty years speak of the changes that have taken place in the habits and customs of the peasantry of Ireland for the past fifty years particularly as regards diet. It is about three weeks since I heard another old man and my father conversing about what they got to eat when they were young and what they saw others eating.
