  1. Local Fairs
    Fairs are held in most towns and villages. There is not however any fair held in the village of Tarelton but they are held in the adjoining towns, Macroom, Ballineen, and Dunmanway. Each of these fairs in held monthly.
    The pig fair precedes the cattle fair. Horse fairs are held only four times a year. When animals are sold a tax is to be paid to the Town Council. Different prices are paid as two shillings for a horse and a cow and sixpence for a pig. In each town is a special field in which the fair is held. In
