    less well known. They come generally in the Summer bringing with them linoleum, chairs, tables mats & also drive before them a number of asses which they try to sell. The women go round with baskets selling lace, pins, toys etc.
    Dressed in their costume they are picturesque figures. They pretend to be able to tell fortunes & many a shilling they wheedle from their gullible victims.
    People do not place as much confidence in them as in the tinkers. They regard them more as thieves if opportunity offers.
