  1. On hearing the word smith it brings us back to the time of Cuculainn when smiths were held in the highest esteem by rich and poor. But time brings changes.
    No longer does he occupy the prominent position he once held but is simply regarded as a useful member for shoeing the beasts of burden on the farm.
    His workshop is called a forge and in it he labours at his trade & keeps his implements, which consist of a bellows, anvil file, rasp, drill hammers, nails, iron, water trough, pincers ??. The bellows blows the coal fire to redden the iron, the anvil is used to beat it on in order to shape it; the pincers for
