    its pain in silence. In the morning when it reopened it was no longer pink that is why it has never shown its colour since. The violet droops because the shadow of the Cross fell on it the day of the Crucifixion. The anemone is called the holy land, the blood droops of Christ a name given to the wallflower. There lived an old man name rock who grew clover with a red hearth, shaped pot on one side of the leaf and the children who asked to buy from the man would say it was Jesus Blood. The hawthorn it was with which magpies covered Our Lord as he was resting in a wood from the pursuit of His enemies just before the Crucifixion.
    Another bird that showed pity to Our Lord at the time of the Crucifixion was robin redbrest. Seeing him in pain from the thorns that were piercing His brow it flew over His hand and it plucked out a thorn from the
