Very many years ago the people of rural districts used to bathe their wearied limbs in bog-water to restore vigour. It was considered a great cure for "perspiring feet" by our fore-fathers. It was often slighty heated, but as a rule it was used cold as there was little chance of contracting cold by bathing in it.
Boots are made to a small extent in Boyle town, and this craft has been carried on it this town by the same family for well nigh a century and a quarter. There are two great families of shoe-makers at present living in Boyle whose ancestors carried on that trade for three or four generations. There are others both in town and country of lesser note who are mainly "cobblers", engaged in repairing boots and shoes. The present member of the Reilly family resides in St. Patrick's Street. He mainly repairs footwear of late years but also makes shoes and boots whenever given the order. The output of boots from his shop is not nearly so great as(continues on next page)- Collector
