- St. Brigid's Day
I heard this from my mother who formerly lived in Mantua, Elphin. Her maiden name was May Murray.
St. Brigid's Day falls on the first of February. It is a custom among the people in North Roscommon, that girls named Brigid should put a lighted candle and crucifix and green ribbon on the window of their houses on the first of February to honour St. Brigid. - You are not logged in, but you are welcome to contribute a transcription anonymously.
