  1. There are certain days which are looked upon as being lucky or unlucky. A Friday is counted a lucky day to change to a new house or for starting any kind of work such as building or ploughing. A Saturday is counted the most unlucky day. There is an old proverb that "Work started on a Saturday is never finished" and Wednesday is counted lucky to get married.
    If Barley Oats or potatoes are not sowed before you would hear the Cuckoo they are too late and the Cuckoo comes in the 21st of April and if turnips are not sowed before the 21st June they are counted late
