There is a fair held in this town every month. Cattle, sheep, and horses are sold in the fair.
Jobbers come to Ballinakill to the fairs from Limerick, Waterford, Kilkenny, and even from Belfast.
When a man buys a cow he marks her by cutting off some of the hair from her side.
Fairs are not always held in towns. Fairs are sometimes held in the country once or twice in the year.
A fair is held in Cullohill.

I heard about the local fair from my father. He lives in Chapel Street, Ballinakill. He spent most of his life in Ballinakill. He is a workman. He was born in Stradbally. I wrote about the local fair on the 22nd June 1938.
