    It being May Fair'.

    It being May Fair'
    Erskine he got ready,
For he meant to be there.
When he got to Christy's brae,
    He gave a hop
For he was like a ram
Says he, if I cannot get with Slavin,
I ll have to get with Sam.
    He got into Slavin's car.
And like the wind they flew
    And down by Coghills meadow
    They overtook Agnew
    They lifted Woods and Keenan
For well they knew the trick
    And they never found
    Till they were landed
    Three miles below Scotstown.
    Stop the car says Erskine
Till I throw away the stick
Is that a lake says Erskine.
    We must be far away.
