  1. The site of one of those Hedge Schools still remains in this locality. It is situated about ¼ mile from Castlekelly cross on the road to Goresbridge. Nothing now remains but the small paddock and an old cherry tree. Theer was a little hut where the scholars sought shelter when the weathert was too cold or wet but the old people say that the old cherry tree was mostly used as a shelter. Philip Meaney was the last master who taught here and the place is called Philip's House to the present day.
