  1. Between Scartnmore and Rathinure about three fields from Scartnmore on the old Ross road there is a district called Kilcolumb.
Kilcolumb is a noted place. It was visited by two Saints St Patrick and St Colmcille. When St Patrick was coming from Rathpatrick he marked his head, knees and thumbs in a big stone outside the Church. Anyone that fits his head, knees, and thumbs into those marks on the stone will never suffer from headaches. Not far from the Church is a Well and it is called the Well of Doves.
The Church is now in ruins. The four walls are still standing. The spaces for the door and windows are still standing. Around it is the graveyard of Kilcolumb
