  1. There is a ruins of an old Castle in Ballinlaw. It was built by Lady Esmonde
It is in disuse about half of a century
It is in the townsland of Ballinlaw in the barony of Ida in the Co. Kilkenny.
There was a small church attached to it but it is not to be seen now. It was knocked after Lady Esmond's death. Mass was said in the Church in Lady Esmond's time. A Mass Book was found in the ruins not so long ago. The house is haunted. In the Penal Days a man was shot through one of the windows. A chair is still supposed to be heard falling in that room.
