  1. Local Marriage Customs
    Marriages take place any time of the year except in Lent or Advent, but almost all take place between New Years day and Ash Wednesday.
    There are matches made in this district yet. When they are making a match the man brings a bottle of whisky with him and if they come to an agreement they drink the whiskey, and if not he brings it home again
    Money is given as part of the dowry but there is no stock or goods given. Long ago the bride got her feather bed as part of the dowry.
