  1. There is no fair held in Freshford at the present time. It wad one of the best fairs in the country eighty or ninety years ago, but about thirty years ago it began to decline and has now ceased to exist. When it was first held it was noted for the springers which used to be offered and buyers came from Limerick and the West of Ireland to buy them. The fairs were held twice a year, the 5th of August and the 17th of Dec.
    There was a fair held in Rathbeagh long ago too, but about one hundred years ago it developed more into a gambling and fighting business that a fair and it died out about ninety years ago. When an animal was sold, luck money was given
