Ar an leathanach seo
- Our farm which contains about thirty acres of land is situated about five miles from Carrickmacross. We grow about three Irish acres of potatoes yearly. The average yield is about eight tons to the acre. In late winter we plough the ground.Then in the early spring it is cultivated, harrowed and cross-ploughed. It is again harrowed till it is very fine and then the drills are opened. The farmyard manure is then carted out and spread in the bottom of the drills. Artificial manure at the rate of six hundred weight to the acre is evenly shook in the drills, the seed is then dropped about one foot apart and the drills are closed with a double plough. Long ago the potato crop was planted in ridges. This work was done with a spade.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
