    afford to buy sprayers, used to spray them with a bucket of spraying stuff and a small brush, made of heather.
    In autumn the potatoes are dug. We gather them. They are dug with a digging machine. Some of them are put in pits and the rest are put in a house. Then they are picked. Some of them are sold for eating and some of them are sold to the alcohol factory. The small ones or porrins are given to the pigs and fowl. The farmer keeps a share of the good ones for himself.
    There are different names of potatoes namely, “Arran Banners”, “KerrS Pinks”, “Arran Counsels”, “May Queens”, “Skerries” and “Arran Victors”
