Then Mr. Timothy Horgan (still alive) whose son is the present owner got possession in 1920 and it is said made further attempts in the orchard, and underneath the bit flag stones of the front door - but of no avail. The treasure of the "Janey Johnson" - hidden at Rathanny House defies all excavators - There is a strong belief locally that this treasure is really there - either in the walls of the house or under some heavy stones in the old walls. But as so many strong walls are met with all over the farm no one can be certain of its probable hiding place. The above story was given by the following people:- (1) Dan Mahoney of Carrignafeela, Rathanny (2) Maurice Savage "Kilquane" and confirmed later by Partick Flahive of Potally, Rathanny, who gave the name of the ship as the "Janey Johnson" and also the fact that Colonel Rowan was a "Magistrate" and that it was during the time of the "Moonlighters" this attack was made on Colonel Rowan.
