  1. In the olden times the people lived longer and enjoyed better health than now this was due to the plain food the eat. Their morning food was a porringer of indian meal porrige. They done their morning's work before they eat any thing this made them very healthy. They took a porringer of porrige and butter milk. Very few drank tea. Their midday meal was potatoes. When the potatoes were boiled they were put into a hand basket and the water was taken from them
