- Churning
Long ago some of the people churned every second day. They made the churning in a timber churn about three feet in height. The old people believed that if a stranger came in during and went without churning that they brought the butter home with them. They would not let a person take a coal out of the fire during the churning.
They also believed that if he did not say "God bless the work" he brought the butter home. It takes about an hour to make a churning. In the cold weather they pour hot water on the milk. When the butter is taken of the milk they take a drink of butter-milk. When the butter was salted they went to some town and sold it.- Collector
