  1. Local Place names
    The most important place in this districk from ahistorical point of view is Moytura. There was a battle fought there between the Tuatha De Dananns and Formorians. Some people differ on the meaning of the word Mortura. Some say it means the plain of the towers. Father Sharkey former C C Highwood said it meant "the plain on the strand." The sea was supposed to be beating up against the rocks of Moytura once. The plain is dotted with huge rocks and giant's graves. The druids used to light a fire on eglone rock in Moytura.
    There are names on the most of the fields in this locality. There is a name on every field in John Joe Devine's land. There is Pairc Dub, "Pairc
