Meat was only eaten on rare occasions and it was usually salted. Bacon was the principal kind of meat eaten and fish was a very common meal among the people. People did not eat late at night.
At Easter the people made a habit of eating a lot of eggs but this habit is gone out of fashion long ago. In years gone by the people hardly knew the taste of tea but in every house it is taken three or four times a day now. Before cups became common a tin mug and a vessel called a noggin was used.
