  1. There are three forges in the District. There is one of them situated in Tullaghan. They other two are near crossroads. These are the names of the men that own them.
    Ned Kiely, Joe Hannon and a man named Simson.
    All the forges are a good size. They are all thatched houses. They have a bellow for blowing up the fire. They make ovens, pots and pothooks and fix spades and other articles. He also makes shoes for horses and asses.
    These are the utensils the black-smiths use. A hammer, nails, and iron, file and sledges.
    This is how he shoes a horse first he pares the hoof of the horse and shapes the iron and files it and then hammers it on.
