  1. Long ago in the penal days Orangemen and Catholics were often fighting in the country. At this time a man named Mac Morrough, a Catholic was living in the parish of Drumcliffe and he had a great fight with a protestant who lived near him. The fight lasted from morning until evening.
    Mac Morrough was armed with a black-thorn stick which he had cut in a fairy fort. The fairies liked Mac Morrough and left a special power in the stick which would help him while he was
