    same white hare was the cause of his death for he too coursed her and in this way he was brought to the witch's door to meet the fate of his brother.
    The poor widow had now but one son left.
    When he became eighteen years he too fell into the hands of the witch but he was cleverer than his brothers. The witch received him in a friendly way. On the fire was a large pot containing boiling water. She asked him to lift the cover off the pot for her but his suspicions were aroused and he refused to do so. She did so herself and when in the act of doing so he threw her into the pot and roasted her.
