    St Brigid's Day:-
    1. On that day the people make crosses of straw and wood and keep them in the house for a year to keep away sickness.
    2. The small children dress themselves up in straw and decorate a big doll with all kinds of nice clothes. They go from house to house singing and dancing. This doll which they carry with them is called the "Brídeóg." They never take money it is only for fun they go out.
    Shrove:-
    1. Long ago the people used to get married on Shrove Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday.
    2. On that day the people who did not get married go around with a "pus" on them because they know no one
