Doocastle. (An Evening Glance)
Around the trees that clusteringly
Surround its form towering there,
In stern splendour grim and fair
DooCastle's ancient wall I see.How proud it looks, how bright it seems,
That monument of bygone days.
As brilliantly the sun's sweet rays,
Around if fall in silent streams.I think (while gleams their golden light
Upon its turrets glitteringly)
Of the lov'd days when liberty
Around it shone as calm and bright.When o'er its battlements did wave
Green Erin's banner radiantly
And in its halls the true and free
With joy did greet their chieftain brave.O lov'd old castle! gone away
