- The old people of our neighbourhood have many strange beliefs and customs connected with Christmas. The following are some of them:-
It was an old custom long ago to quench the fire with water on Christmas night for fear Saunta Claus would get burned. It is also customary to leave a box in the fire-place and a basin of cold water for him to wash his hands in. In most houses crosses are made out of straw.
