James Gilligan at Lough Talt who left "Buaile." He was very poor so he came to the witch for some gold. When he arrived at the place he saw the witch beside the crock and a spear in her hand. He asked the witch for some gold. She told him to go over to a wood and bring her a spade from it. When he returned with the spade she told him to dig under a certain rock and (you) he (will) would get all (your) his wants. When he (returned) had (returned) dug for some distance he got a paper and on it these words were written. "Go back to that wood and you will meet a man in the place. You got the spade." James did so, and met the man. The man said, "The day you left "Buaile you never had luck nor never will." "I warned you before."
