- A mountain farm owned formerly by the Devaney family and now by Jack Cabbery has many lakes bearing Irish names.
These lakes are:-
Lough Ahusey, Pull Gorm, Fall na Muicke, Lough na Maollóg, and Lough na moonóg.
There is an altar in this locality which is the southern extremity of the parish of Kilmacshalgan. The townland is Fidaun Darry and a very remote district which was made use of in Penal Days by hunted priests.
On a very clear day it is said that an altar of logs of timber can be seen at the bottom of Lough na Maoillog. A bell was heard ringing there not long ago.
There are small lakes in James Dunleavys land in Townaghmore. They are,: Lough Doo and Poll na Hensoige, Lough Joe in the centre of the bog about a mile from Gleneaskey school is supposed to be an enchanted lake.(continues on next page)- Collector
