The well supplies a large stream or river now called Thyse river which flows on through Ardfert beside the cathedral grounds to the sea and on to the bunk the Franciscans founded their home at Ardfert in (1252) The river was called the "Gabhra" and must have been much bigger than it is at present for it is told in local tradition that it was in one of those rivers (fifty in number the Latin life) being fishes where blessed
