  1. Over forty years ago there was a priest named Father Tom Brosnan in this parish. He had no money to leave to his church after his death. So the Bishop would not allow him to be buried in the church, but the people of the parish buried him there in spite of him, in the right wing of it. After being some time buried inside in the church, the bishop sent some men to dig up the coffin and bury it outside in the yard. His friends came again after it being some time buried in the yard and dug it up again and took the corpse to his own burying-place in Castleisland. On account of the dispute at that time the chapel was closed, and there was no mass there for three months or maybe more.
    Father Brown was the curate at that time and he used to read mass in Kilflynn and the people used go there and to outside parishes to mass, until the chapel was consecrated again and reopened.
